Responsive design usually means working at one screen size, then switching to another to see what changed. Fix something on desktop, check it on a phone, go back, adjust it again. Much of the work is simply moving between views instead of designing.
Put multiple screen sizes on the canvas at the same time. Desktop, tablet, and phone all stay in sync because they're showing the same page with the same stylesheet. Edit one, and you immediately see how the others respond.
That's when responsive design becomes much easier. You can balance a headline that needs to work at every size, watch a navigation turn into a mobile menu, or see where a layout starts to break before it becomes a problem. Instead of designing for one screen and checking another, you're designing for all of them together.
