Most people who edit website copy don't need a full page editor. They just want to change the words. Giving them access to layouts, styling, and components only makes simple edits more intimidating, so the change ends up in an email or a document instead of on the page itself.

Copy Mode locks everything except the text. Click a heading, paragraph, or button label, make your changes, and move on. Nothing can be dragged, resized, or restyled, so there's no risk of accidentally changing the design.

Writing directly on the page has another advantage. You immediately see when a headline wraps onto another line, a paragraph becomes too long, or a button label no longer fits. Instead of discovering those problems later, you fix them while you're writing.
