Most components are designed with perfect data. A short title, a loaded image, a table with a few rows. Real content is rarely that tidy. Names are longer, lists grow, images fail to load, and sometimes there's no data at all.
Content States lets you switch between those situations while you design. See a component empty, full, loading, in an error state, with missing images, or overflowing with content. Instead of waiting for real users to discover the edge cases, you can design for them from the start.
The empty state deserves the most attention. It's often the first screen a new user sees, yet it's usually the last one anyone designs. Being able to view it with a single click makes it much more likely to get the attention it needs.
