Getting started isn't always as simple as adding a script tag. Even one line of code can mean opening a pull request, waiting for review, deploying, and getting approval from the people responsible for the site. That's a lot of work before you've even made your first edit.

The Browser Extension removes that step. Pixy loads from your browser instead of the website, giving you the same editing tools and the same workflow without changing the site itself. It's an easy way to try Pixy, work on a staging site behind a login, or collaborate with a client before they're ready to install anything.

The difference is simply where Pixy runs. A script tag makes it available to everyone working on the project. The extension only affects your own browser. That's perfect for evaluating Pixy or making changes privately, and you can always install it on the site later when you're ready.

The Chrome extension is here, and it's available now on the Chrome Web Store. The release post has the full story.

Install it, sign in once with your Pixy account, and press ⌘⇧E (Ctrl+Shift+E on Windows and Linux) on any website. If the page is already part of one of your projects, the editor opens immediately. Otherwise, you can choose an existing project or create a new one.

The extension doesn't change the website itself. Visitors see the original page, and content security policies aren't affected because everything runs in your browser.

This roadmap entry stays open while support for other browsers is added. Firefox is next.
