A URL that shows someone your site with your edits on it: who may open it, what it shows, how long it lives, and what a viewer sees.
/docs/share.txtA shared link shows someone your site with your edits on it, no account, no extension, no tag of their own. They open a URL, the page comes up already changed, and they can walk the site as if the design were live. It is the first step of working together in Pixy: you design, they look, before anything is built. With Live on, the link is a room as well, and you present in it: see Live.
Press the share button in the Pixy menu. One card, top to bottom:
Share makes the link and copies it. From then on the button reads Copy, and a change on the card, an address added, a version ticked, a longer span, turns it into Save: nothing leaves the card until you press it, since a save can mail people, and closing the card with unsaved changes asks first. Picking a span again restarts the link's clock from now, any other change leaves its expiry where it stands.
All shared links lists the project's running links, a row each with its terms and how many are on it right now. Edit loads it into the card, Copy copies it, Delete ends it at once for everyone holding it, asked first, and every row carries Enter and Leave.
The visitor's page loads under a plain sheet, white or black, whichever their system asks for, with Pixy's mark turning in the middle. Behind it the site loads, the edits arrive and the page rebuilds itself. The sheet lifts only when the version is fully on the page, so nobody sees the site jump from before to after. From there it is the site: links work, forms work, nothing of the editor is on screen. Navigation inside the site keeps the preview on for that tab.
With several versions on offer, the current version's name stands bottom right, where the Pixy menu would on your own page, and the list opens above it. Picking one reads the page again under the sheet, at that version, and the tab remembers it.
An expired or deleted link says so on the sheet, with Continue to the site as it is. An invitation-only link asks the visitor to sign in, a small Pixy window, the code by email, and then opens. A page that cannot reach Pixy says so rather than holding the visitor, and opens the moment it does.
Look. A shared link binds read-only on the server: it can fetch the shared version's records and the images they name, and nothing else. It cannot open design mode, cannot save, cannot make links of its own, and cannot see versions the link does not offer. It only opens on the site it was made on, carried onto another domain, the id is refused.
The project page in your account has a Shared links block: every running link, where it opens, what it shows, who may look, when it dies. Edit unfolds the terms, Copy copies the URL, Delete ends it. Removing a project ends its links with it, and regenerating the project's key revokes every invited viewer's grant.
